Advertising has always been the most powerful marketing tool, utilized by business companies. And law firms are business companies, no matter the specific features they might have. And nowadays Television seems to be the most powerful media and thus the most preferred and effective way of advertising. Law firm TV ads are not allowed everywhere around the world, but it seems that the tendency is towards changing this situation.
I have reviewed and analyzed several hundred Law Firm TV ads and I will tell you what – they all look one and the same! And it’s getting worse – they all seem to suffer from one and the same defects! For example, law firms either come up with big expensive TV commercials and don’t take into consideration legal profession’s specificity (and thus spending tons of money without effectively reaching their target market), or to the opposite – focus on the personality of a particular attorney and thus make the mistake of looking too small to hire. And it is high time that law firms quit ending their TV ads with those pretentious and ‘bombastic’ statements that they use now (I will discuss some of them in my article) – they make them very often look pretty unprofessional!
